We've been working for a long time to bring Extraction, USA to where it is now. I started writing notes for the story in 2016, and Peter Matsoukas and I traded drafts of the screenplay back and forth through the next few years. In the fall of 2022, we shot a trailer--just the trailer--with Leanne Johnson, Marlee Carpenter, and Derek McMahan. A year after that, we filmed the real thing over twenty-one days plus a few pickups. And now, after editing, sound mixing, music, and color, we have a story that combines action, comedy and drama to tell the story of a single mom and mysterious drifter who work together to improve their lives, legally or otherwise!
